Detailed Entry Requirements

Detailed Requirement Breakdown

Microchip

Required
Microchipping: Your pet must have an ISO 11784/11785-compliant microchip, and the same microchip number must appear on all vaccination, treatment, licence, and health certificate records.
Singapore uses the microchip as your pet's official identity throughout the import process. If the chip number is missing from a vaccination record or does not match the health certificate, AVS officers can treat the paperwork as non-compliant. The chip also needs to be readable at inspection on arrival.
PetAir UK: We verify your pet's microchip, check every document against the same number, and flag any record gaps before airline or licence steps begin.

Rabies Vaccination

Not Required
Rabies Vaccination and RNATT: Rabies vaccination and rabies blood titre testing are not required for compliant dogs and cats travelling from the UK to Singapore under Schedule I rules.
The United Kingdom is listed by Singapore's Animal & Veterinary Service as a Schedule I country, alongside Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. This is why UK-resident pets can enter Singapore without the additional rabies vaccination and serology steps required for higher-risk countries. Residency matters: your pet must have lived continuously in the UK or another Schedule I country for at least six months before export, or since birth.
PetAir UK: Our vet-led team checks your pet's residency history and confirms whether your dog or cat qualifies for Schedule I conditions before we build the travel plan.

Blood Titre Test (RNATT)

Not Required

Core Vaccinations

Required
Core Vaccinations: Dogs need valid distemper, adenovirus type 1, and parvovirus vaccination; cats need valid calicivirus, herpesvirus-1, and panleukopaenia vaccination.
Singapore does not waive core vaccination requirements, even for Schedule I pets. Dogs and cats aged 16 weeks or older must be vaccinated according to the manufacturer's recommendations and at least 14 days before export. Younger puppies or kittens require the correct primary course, with the final dose at least 14 days before export. Every vaccination record must show the microchip number, vaccine details, date, and veterinary endorsement.
PetAir UK: Our in-house vets and veterinary nurses review the vaccination history early, then arrange any boosters within the correct timing window so the final EHC can be signed with confidence.

Parasite Treatment

Required
Parasite Treatment: Your pet must receive internal and external parasite treatments between 2 and 7 days before export to Singapore.
The veterinary certificate must confirm treatment against external parasites such as fleas and ticks, and internal parasites including nematodes and cestodes. This is one of the most time-sensitive requirements because the treatment window is short. If the treatment is too early or too late, the certificate cannot be accepted as compliant.
PetAir UK: We schedule this alongside the final veterinary appointment, making sure the treatment date, product name, active ingredient, and microchip details are recorded correctly.

Singapore Import Licence

Required
Singapore Import Licence: Every dog or cat entering Singapore needs a valid AVS import licence, and owners must obtain the relevant dog or cat licence before applying.
Singapore's import licence is issued through the GoBusiness Licensing Portal and is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. Before this step, your pet must be licensed through the Pet Animal Licensing System. You also need a border inspection appointment at least five working days before arrival, and a Customs In-Payment/GST permit or appropriate GST relief handling before the inspection booking can be completed.
PetAir UK: We guide and coordinate the licence sequence, confirm the correct flight details for the import licence, and make sure the inspection booking is not left until the last minute.

DEFRA Health Certificate

Required
DEFRA Export Health Certificate (EHC 7106): EHC 7106 is the UK government's official export health certificate for cats and dogs travelling from the UK to Singapore.
The Singapore veterinary certificate must be dated no more than seven days before export, signed by a government-approved veterinarian and endorsed by an official government veterinarian. For UK exports, this is managed through the DEFRA/APHA Export Health Certificate process. It confirms your pet's identity, age, residency, vaccination status, parasite treatments, clinical fitness to fly, and compliance with Singapore's Schedule I conditions.
PetAir UK: We prepare the EHC 7106 application, liaise with your Official Veterinarian, review the certificate before endorsement, and keep the timing aligned with airline check-in and Singapore arrival inspection.

Quarantine on Arrival

Not Required
Quarantine: Quarantine is not required for compliant dogs and cats travelling from the UK to Singapore when the veterinary rules are met and your pet is healthy on arrival.
On arrival, your pet and the original documents are presented to an authorised Veterinary Officer at Changi Animal & Plant Quarantine. If your pet is healthy and the documents are in order, your pet can be released to you or your appointed agent. AVS may detain, return, quarantine, or take other action if the conditions of import are not met.
PetAir UK: Our 100% vet-led documentation process is built to reduce the risk of non-compliance, so your pet's arrival is as smooth and predictable as possible.

Airlines & Route Options

Flying Your Pet to Singapore: Airlines and Route Options

Pets flying from the UK to Singapore usually travel to Changi Airport either on a direct long-haul service or via a carefully managed connection. PetAir UK chooses the safest, most practical routing based on your pet’s breed, size, documents, and welfare needs.

How PetAir UK Selects Your Pet's Routing

Direct UK to Singapore flights typically take around 13 – 14 hours, with connecting routes taking longer depending on the hub and layover. We prioritise routes that keep your pet's journey simple, reduce transit stress, and support Singapore's documentation requirements – especially the captain's declaration that confirms how your pet travelled. Every PetAir UK travel cabin is custom-built and IATA-approved, giving your pet enough room to stand, sit, turn around, and settle safely during the journey.

British Airways (Via PetAir UK / Cargo Hold)

British Airways does not carry standard pets in the cabin on any route. For pets departing from the UK, British Airways partners with PetAir UK, which makes this a strong option for direct London Heathrow to Singapore routing where airline, aircraft, and breed acceptance are suitable. Pets travel in the aircraft hold, and arrangements are managed through approved pet travel partners. Snub-nosed or restricted breeds need individual assessment before this route is selected.

Singapore Airlines (Checked Baggage / Cargo – Case by Case)

Singapore Airlines accepts cats and dogs as checked baggage on selected flights, provided the pet is at least three months old, the route permits it, and the combined pet plus travel cabin weight remains within airline limits. However, Singapore Airlines also publishes airport and destination restrictions, including UK airport limitations, so UK-to-Singapore pet acceptance must be confirmed before planning around this option. The airline has a detailed prohibited breed list for dogs and cats, including many brachycephalic breeds.

Qatar Airways (Via Doha Hub)

Qatar Airways can carry pets as animals in hold when IATA Live Animals Regulations and destination rules are met. This can be useful for some UK – Singapore routings via Doha, but it requires careful planning because Qatar applies limits on container dimensions and weight, advance booking windows, and breed restrictions. Snub-nosed breeds and several listed dog and cat breeds are not accepted as checked baggage, so PetAir UK checks suitability before recommending this route.

Emirates & Other Connecting Carriers (Via Dubai / Regional Hubs)

Emirates carries eligible pets as excess baggage in a special area of the aircraft hold, with larger travel cabins moving as cargo when they exceed airline size limits. Connecting routes can work well for some pets, but Singapore's captain's declaration and transit requirements mean route design is especially important. PetAir UK avoids unnecessary changes of aircraft, long layovers, and routes that create extra paperwork risk for your pet.

PetAir UK manages every one of these requirements on your behalf – from booking your pet’s health certificate appointment to liaising directly with airlines and border authorities.

Pet travel to Singapore is not just about getting the paperwork right – it is about helping a much-loved animal arrive safely, calmly, and ready for life with you in a new country.

The hardest part for many owners is the moment they realise they will not be sitting beside their pet during the flight. That separation can feel enormous. PetAir UK softens that anxiety with a dedicated 1-to-1 travel coordinator who knows your pet by name, understands your timeline, and guides you from first enquiry to safe arrival at Changi. For extra peace of mind, you can add real-time reassurance with our PetAir Care Tags , so anyone who handles your pet can quickly access key contact and care details.
