DEFRA stands for the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.
Pet Air has Transporter Authorisation and a Certificate of Competence from DEFRA. All pet transporters should have this authorisation to legally allow them to transport pets. It is available to clients on demand.
Importing country’s veterinary authorities often require DEFRA to provide certain animal health, public health and animal welfare assurances. It does this by producing specific export documents. Typically a veterinary health certificate which is then inspected by a DEFRA-approved veterinarian shortly before export to confirm that the assurances have been met. DEFRA pet travel certification allows transportation of pets to happen efficiently and within regulations.
The regulations that apply vary greatly by destination country and the species of animal. But because we are vets and vet nurses and very experienced, we can help you with all the necessary paperwork.
