Can I Bring My Pet to the UK from Canada?
Yes. Canada is a “Part 2 listed country” under the UK Pet Travel Scheme. This means:
- Your pet must enter the UK under the commercial import route.
- Travel must be arranged as manifested air cargo.

Entry Requirements for Pets from Canada:
1. Microchip
- ISO-compliant and readable.
- Must be inserted before the rabies vaccination.
2. Rabies Vaccination
- Must be administered after microchipping.
Valid for travel 21 days after primary vaccination.
3. Health Certificate
- An export health certificate (EHC) issued by a CFIA-authorised vet within 10 days of travel.
- Confirms vaccination details and pet’s fitness to fly.
4. Approved UK Entry Point
- Pets from Canada must enter via an approved Border Control Post (BCP) such as London Heathrow.
5. Customs Clearance & Border Check
- Pets are inspected at the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre (ARC).
- Any errors in documentation may lead to quarantine or denied entry.
Note: Canada does not require a rabies blood test (titration test) when exporting to the UK.
