Cleveland is home to four dog-friendly beaches and one of the most dog-friendly national parks in the state. There’s plenty to do with your dog in Cleveland.
Switching between an ice-cream parlour in the summer months and a ramen joint in winter, Mason’s Creamery is a delight whenever you choose to go. There’s a big dog-friendly patio and an ever-changing menu of homemade small-batch food. This really is a top notch independent neighbourhood spot. They’ll even provide a scoop of ice-cream for your pooch!
Located between the cities of Cleveland and Akron, this national park lies along the Cuyahoga River and welcomes dogs on leashes. There are over 110 miles of hiking trails to explore within this national park. There are also several waterfalls to see and plenty of wildlife to spot. Dogs are not permitted on the scenic railroad train or within any of the park buildings.
This bakery is a dog’s dream come true. Offering everything from natural dog treats to seasonal goods, they even have a bakery offering ‘pupcakes’ and delicious pastries. Fun fact, the owners opened the first dog bakery in the world back in 1989.
This 7.5 acre dog park is located in Stow, just south of Cleveland. Open from mid-March to December, this fenced-in dog park has its own lake and a sandy beach for your dog to run free and enjoy. The park has an agility course and a separate area for smaller dogs. Finally, a dog washing station allows you to get the worst of the muck off before heading home.
Spanning over 3,600 acres, this is one of the largest arboretums in the US. With over 20 miles of hiking trails to explore, it’s a great place to stretch your legs with your four-legged friend while taking in some of the most beautiful trees and plants you’ll ever see. Bear in mind that you’ll need to take all your snacks and drinks with you as there is nowhere onsite to get these. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Dogs not permitted on the Murch Canopy Walk or the Kalberer Emergent Tower.
