Dog Park 49

Dog Park 49 has got everything you could ever need as a pet owner. The outdoor space features an astroturf lawn with plenty of room to run around. As well as some play equipment there is also a pool for your pooch to cool off in. The onsite cafe means you won’t go hungry during your visit. The space even has a grooming parlour and a hotel. 

Beung Nong Bon

This leafy park area is located near Phra Nakhon and features a 3.7km circular trail that loops around the lake/reservoir. The flat, paved path makes it a popular spot for dog walkers, runners and cyclists. It’s a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Dogs are permitted to be off-lead in some areas.

The Pet Safari

This small chain of pet stores can be found in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. There are three stores in Bangkok, each with it’s own fun theme. One is African themed, one is based on the California gold rush and the last is Viking themed. All fun and games! Yoyogi Park dog run, Tokyo

This dog park is located in the Shibuya City district of Tokyo. This dog run is an enclosed area which is fenced on all sides. It has separate area for small and large dogs and it’s a great place to let your pup burn off some energy. You need to register with the Park Service Center before entering. Situated right next to Harajuku station and the Meiji Jingu shrine, this park can get quite busy, so visiting early in the day is recommended. It’s also an excellent spot to see the cherry blossoms. 

Sesoko Beach, Okinawa

You would be forgiven for thinking that you’d accidentally visited the Maldives when you arrive at Sesoko Beach. The crystal clear waters and jaw-dropping scenery make this a truly wonderful spot. Sesoko Beach stretches for half a mile and it’s soft sands and inviting waters are great for relaxing and cooling off on a hot day. It was even named by booking.com as one of the top 6 beaches in the world for walking your dog!

Deco’s Dog Cafe, Tokyo

This cafe is not home to dogs, unlike other animal cafes famous in Japan. Instead, this is a dog-friendly cafe which allows owners to enjoy a cup of coffee or spot of lunch in the company of their canine. The menu features plenty of meals for both dogs and humans and they even make special doggy birthday cakes. 

Indy Jones Mile, Okinawa

If hiking is your thing then you’ll love this dog-friendly route near Okinawa. Although only 1.3km in length, this route is rated ‘moderate’ as it can be tricky in places. Like an Indiana Jones movie, this trail is not for the faint-hearted! There’s a lot of climbing over rocks using ropes, exploring caves, some muddy parts and snakes, spiders and mosquitos to be weary of. However you do pass some wonderful historic sites and castle ruins and the area is well known for wildflower spotting. Dogs are permitted to hike the trail with you but must be leashed.

Butterfly Valley Road Pet Garden

Open daily from 7am – 12am, this park was built especially for dogs in 2014. Located on a strip of grass underneath a flyover, this is the largest dog park in Kowloon. This dog park is particularly notable thanks to its collection of obstacle courses that are perfect for agility training.

Opendoor Cafe + Courtyard

Located in Sai Ying Pun, this laid-back neighbourhood cafe is a local favourite. The cafe offers teas, coffees and smoothies with a great alternative milk selection. They also have great breakfast and brunch options. But pet-friendly hidden courtyard out the back really is the icing on the cake.

One look at the stunning scenic views from this trail and you’ll see why this is one of the most iconic hikes in Hong Kong. Located in Shek O Country Park, this mild intensity trail finishes off at Shek O beach, where you and your dog can cool off in the ocean. Bear in mind that there is no water available on the trail so you’ll have to pack plenty.

Part pet emporium, part animal adoption centre, Whiskers N Paws is located in Horizon Plaza on Ap Lei Chau. You find a fantastic range of treats and toys for your dog here. They also have in-store adoption stations so you can even pick up a new pet too. There’s also a self-dog wash area so you can get your pooch sparkling clean. All the proceeds of the self-dog wash go back into the community to help other animals.

Tanjong Beach Club

This trendy beach club is located on Sentosa Island. Dogs are allowed on the sandy beach in front of the club and the calm sea waters are the perfect place for your pooch to cool off. However, dogs must be on a lead at all times. Tanjong Beach Club, along with several others on this stretch of sand, will happily provide bowls of drinking water to keep your pup hydrated.

K9 Park

Although dogs are not allowed inside the NEX mall, there are designated lifts ready to take you to K9 Park on the rooftop. The park features jumps, tunnels and other obstacles so your dog can burn off plenty of energy here. The park is even divided into two areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs.

Sunny Heights is more than just daycare for dogs. There’s a grooming salon, a pet-friendly cafe, a hotel, a bakery and even a saltwater swimming pool. If it’s your dog’s first time in the water and they are a little anxious, there’s a 3-step entry into the water and life jackets for hire. For the more confident swimmers, there’s pipes spurting water to make things a little more interesting and exciting.
