Where to take your dog in Madrid

A city of elegant boulevards, glamorous cocktail bars and world-class art galleries, Madrid is a fantastic place to visit. It’s also a very dog-friendly city. It has it’s own dog taxi service and there’s even app to help you find the dog-friendly places to take your dog in Madrid.

El Retiro Park

This park is in the heart of Madrid and offers a peaceful escape from city life. With over 125 hectares to discover, the park is home to rose gardens, statues, fountains and even glass palaces. UNESCO even added it as a World Heritage Site in July 2021. You can find plenty of recreation activities here too. You could try rowing on the artificial lake or running, walking, cycling or rollerblading the many pathways. Dogs need to be on a leash whilst in the park.

Café Federal

This trendy Australian-style brunch spot has got locations all over Spain, with two in Madrid. It’s a popular spot with the Instagram crowd and is dog-friendly to boot. The menu is packed with freshly made morning classics like eggs, croissants, pancakes, French toast and breakfast burgers.

Circular Casa de Campo

This moderate loop trail is located just outside of Madrid in the picturesque Casa de Campo. The 11.7km trail is accessible all year round and dogs are permitted on leash. The park was part of the Royal estate for many centuries. However, in the 1930s it finally opened for public use. Restaurants and cafes line the large lake and the park is also home to the zoo and an amusement park.

El Perro y la Galleta

This dog-friendly restaurant has several locations around the city, each one decorated in a beautiful dog-themed vintage style. With a menu that includes fish tacos, burgers and pasta, there’s something for everyone here. Dogs can join you inside while you eat.

So whatever you enjoy doing, you’ll find plenty to do with your dog in Madrid.
